Algonquin Provincial Park

Ontario, one good discovery at a time

Algonquin

Plan an Algonquin Park visit around forest trails, the Highway 60 corridor or a carefully prepared canoe trip. Choose your park entrance and activity first, then compare nearby accommodation for the route you intend to explore.

Choose your route first

A park visit built around your kind of day

A trail walk, a museum stop and a backcountry canoe journey call for different plans. Start with one main experience, locate its entrance or access point, and work out the rest of the trip from there.

Explore the Highway 60 corridor

The corridor runs between the West and East gates and provides a starting point for day visits. Pick a trail or interpretive stop using the official map, then check the facilities and opening arrangements that matter to your group.

Choose a trail that fits

Allow time for the walk itself, daylight and the journey back. Review the route's length, terrain and current notices before deciding. A viewpoint photograph does not establish that a trail is suitable for your group or open in today's conditions.

Prepare for a canoe trip

Choose the access point and route before arranging equipment or accommodation. Match the trip to your paddling and portaging experience, confirm reservations where required, and discuss equipment and logistics with your outfitter. A backcountry trip needs more preparation than a roadside stop.

Explore backcountry access points

Choose a base for the entrance you will use

Huntsville is west of the Highway 60 corridor; Whitney is near its eastern entrance. Compare the exact property location with your intended trailhead or access point. Neither a town name nor an “Algonquin” accommodation description guarantees a short drive to every part of the park.

For camping or backcountry reservations, use Ontario Parks. Hotel and vacation-rental links are for comparing accommodation through external providers; they do not include park entry or confirm a campsite.
