Terms and Conditions

Eligible invited businesses with no previous subscription may activate one 30-day Starter trial per listing. The trial begins when the verified listing owner completes Stripe Checkout. Payment details and acceptance of the renewal terms are required. Starter costs $0 CAD during the trial, then renews automatically at $29.99 CAD per month until cancelled. The exact trial end and first billing date appear in Stripe and your business dashboard. Cancel through Manage billing before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. If paid access ends, the basic listing remains free; Starter benefits stop.

BIA partnerships are voluntary, non-exclusive and have no partnership fee. Active partners receive dedicated onboarding and listing support through info@shoplocal.website. Member offers require partnership acceptance and membership verification; receiving an introduction does not establish a partnership or endorsement. Member businesses choose whether to activate their own trial, and each remains responsible for its subscription. We do not require BIAs to share a member contact list.

ShopLocal.website is operated by Jason Ansell in Ontario, Canada. Questions about the service or these terms can be sent to info@shoplocal.website. By using the service, you agree to these terms. Paid orders also include the plan, price, billing interval and other details shown before you pay.

Nothing in these terms or our other policies excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer, privacy or other law.

We publish business information from submissions and public sources. Basic listing submissions and basic ownership claims are free. You do not have to purchase a package to ask for a correction or removal, or to submit an ownership claim.

You must be authorized to manage any business you claim. We may request evidence and review claims before providing management access. Payment does not establish ownership, verify professional qualifications, or bypass listing review.

You are responsible for accurate account information and protecting your sign-in credentials. Notify us if you believe your account is being used without permission.

Do not impersonate a business, submit deceptive content, infringe others’ rights, upload malicious content, misuse personal information, manipulate reviews, interfere with the service or attempt to gain access to other accounts. Automated access must respect applicable permissions and must not disrupt the service.

You retain the rights you have in the material you submit. You give ShopLocal a non-exclusive licence to host, display, format and use that material to operate and promote your listing and the directory. You must have permission to use submitted logos, images and other content.

Reviews should reflect genuine experiences, be relevant and disclose material relationships. Businesses may report reviews for policy violations; purchasing a package does not entitle a business to remove legitimate criticism. We may investigate, correct, restrict or remove misleading, unlawful or inappropriate content.

Displayed package prices are in Canadian dollars unless explicitly stated otherwise. Review the total and any applicable taxes shown in Stripe Checkout before confirming payment. A subscription renews at the displayed monthly or annual interval until cancelled. An annual plan is billed as the annual total, not in monthly instalments.

A one-time boost is a separate purchase for the duration selected at checkout and does not renew automatically. Paid placement is promotional and may be shared or rotated among eligible listings. No package guarantees a fixed rank, traffic level, leads, search-engine indexing or revenue. Each order applies to the listing identified at checkout unless an agreed offer states otherwise.

Paid features are applied after Stripe confirms payment or an authorized trial subscription. A checkout return page alone is not payment confirmation. New or changed listings remain subject to the relevant review process.

Failed, reversed or disputed payments can delay or suspend paid benefits. Cancellation or expiry of a paid package does not transfer ownership or automatically remove the basic listing. Availability of individual features is described in the current package offer; features described as coming soon are not promised as currently available.

Use Manage billing in your business dashboard to access the Stripe customer portal for the relevant subscription, payment method and invoices. Cancellation stops future renewal at the end of the current paid billing period unless the cancellation screen states otherwise. You can also contact info@shoplocal.website for assistance.

Cancelling a subscription does not automatically refund the period already paid. Contact us promptly about a duplicate charge, billing error, unavailable paid service or refund request. We assess requests based on the circumstances, the service delivered and applicable law. There is no shortened complaint deadline that overrides your statutory rights.

Some links are affiliate links, meaning ShopLocal may receive a commission on a qualifying transaction. Sponsored placement and affiliate links do not make the listed business or booking provider our agent.

Businesses and booking providers are responsible for their own products, services, availability, fees, cancellation terms and refunds. Vacation-rental reservations are made with the booking provider, not ShopLocal; our listing-package billing terms do not apply to those bookings.

We take reasonable care in operating the service, but listings and AI-assisted content may contain errors or become outdated. Verify important details directly with the business. The directory is not professional advice.

We may update or suspend parts of the service for maintenance, security, legal requirements or misuse. Material changes to a paid offer will be communicated as appropriate; this page does not authorize retroactive price changes to a completed order. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect losses caused by reliance on third-party listings or external services.

Contact us first with the relevant listing, order or account details so we can try to resolve the issue. These terms are governed by Ontario law and applicable Canadian federal law, subject to mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights that apply where you live.

We may revise these terms and will show the effective date. Material changes will be brought to your attention where required. The terms and offer in effect when an order is placed continue to govern that order to the extent required by law.
